Marlon and Rhona’s marriage appeared to be over when they clashed bitterly in Tuesday’s special ‘dinner party’ episode.

Marlon has struggled to forgive Rhona for making a damning statement against her ex-husband Gus Malcolms in court, without speaking to him about it first.

In Wednesday’s episode, Paddy catches up with Marlon after witnessing the furious row during the meal.

Paddy urges Marlon to try making amends with Rhona, suggesting that their marriage is worth fighting for and they shouldn’t be so hasty with ending things.

Marlon takes this advice on board and later speaks to Rhona about the possibility of marriage counselling.

Will Rhona agree to consider it – and would it even work if she does?

Zoe Henry, who plays Rhona, recently reflected on the current turmoil for her character’s marriage.

She told us: “They’ve been through a lot together, especially in the past three years, but I guess no relationship is infallible. The embryo story would be enough to break anyone, the emotional rollercoaster of it all.

“Then add to that Rhona’s change of heart in court – without consulting Marlon – it’s the perfect storm.”

Asked whether Rhona and Marlon are strong enough to overcome their issues, Zoe replied: “On a personal note, I very much hope so. But there’s no drama in happiness is there? Watch this space.”

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
