Nicky Milligan’s (Lewis Cope) life is hanging in the balance after being involved in a car crash in Thursday’s (May 9) episode of Emmerdale.
When tonight’s instalment of the ITV soap opened, Nicky was having a tense conversation with Caleb (William Ash) about their business.
He wanted to own more than 25% of their company, but Caleb laughed in his face when Nicky put forward his idea.
As Ruby (Beth Cordingly) ranted to Caleb about their son always searching for his dad’s approval, Nicky was in The Hide with Ethan (Emile John), who had just been offered a new job.
Their afternoon of drinking took a concerning turn when Suni (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana) called Nicky. He revealed some of the men who attacked them last year were at the same bar he was in and didn’t know what to do.
Nicky prepared to head over there, but Ethan followed him and said he’ll drive, because he’s had consumed less alcohol.
As they sped along a country road, Nicky’s panic coupled with Ethan’s stress about drink driving ultimately resulted in them crashing.
When Ethan woke up, he pulled Nicky from the vehicle and left him on the floor.
As Ethan ran away from the scene, Moira (Natalie J Robb) thankfully arrived and called an ambulance for Nicky.
Back in the village, a flustered Ethan did his best to cover his tracks. He returned home to find Claudette (Flo Wilson) and Charles (Kevin Mathurin) full of pride over his new job and couldn’t bring himself to reveal what had just happened.
Eventually, Caleb discovered Nicky was in hospital and raced over with Ruby.
There, as Nicky was wheeled away into theatre, Caleb and Ruby were told by a doctor that he has a bleed on the brain after sustaining a severe head injury.
If Nicky doesn’t survive, where will this leave Ethan if his involvement in the crash is revealed?
